Legacy Scholarships are now available for Jackson County students graduating in June 2008. Scholarship awards and their continuation are dependent on the sufficiency of available funding.
Who is eligible for the Jackson Legacy?
Graduating seniors beginning with the class of 2008 who:
- Graduate from a participating Jackson County High School
- Were enrolled in a Jackson County School for at least three years.
- Live in Jackson County or within the boundaries of a Jackson County School District
- Complete the Legacy Scholarship Application
- Complete the FAFSA
- Agree to community service requirements
- Enroll full-time (with a minimum of 12 semester credit hours or the equivalent) in a participating post-secondary institution
- Continue to live in Jackson County
To what can the Legacy funds be applied?
Legacy funds may be applied to tuition, fees and books at Jackson Community College, Baker College, Spring Arbor University or the Jackson Area Manufacturers Academy (when in partnership with an accredited institution).
Qualifying Years of Attendance
The scholarship amount will be prorated based on the applicants length of enrollment in a qualifying school.

What requirements must students fulfill to remain eligible for the Legacy scholarship?
- Complete the Legacy Scholarship Application
- Complete the FAFSA
- Have completed 80 hours of community services and agree to community service requirements for year two
- Have maintained a first year grade point average (or equivalent) of 2.0 and a second year GPA of 2.5
- Enroll full-time (with a minimum of 12 semester credit hours or its equivalent) in a participating post-secondary institution
- Continue to live in Jackson County
How will scholarships be distributed?
The $3,000 scholarships will be paid directly to the institution where the student is enrolled. The Legacy Scholarship is considered "last dollar". Any unused funds will be returned to the program for further distribution.
